To help each other adjust to and be comfortable with our ever-changing chronologically-advantaged status and to have fun together.
Membership is open to all members and friends of the Unitarian/Universalist Church of Palo Alto who consider themselves "Elders". We encourage anyone to attend one of our meetings, and to become a member if our activities seem enjoyable. There are no minimum participation requirements.
Meetings are held in the Fireside Room on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month, starting at 2:00 pm. In these gatherings we discuss, laugh, and learn about the many issues of living as an elder in today's world. From fortune cookie messages, to practical ways to approach elder housing, to the experience of loss, we travel a warm, friendly, and growth-producing hour together. Meetings may be any combination of informational and social. Informational topics have including housing options, Elderhostel, and financial planning. Social meetings generally center on a theme - - recent examples are railway journeys, favorite meals, early memories, favorite teacher - - and everyone present is given an opportunity to contribute to the discussion.
