Unitarian Universalists have been standing on the side of love since 1970, when we passed the General Assembly General Resolution to end Discrimination against Homosexuals and Bisexuals. The UUA called on congregations to develop sex education programs that promote healthy attitudes toward all forms of sexuality.
In 1998 this congregation was certified as a Welcoming Congregation. Our ministers have been performing religious marriage and commitment ceremonies without descrimination.
In 1999, we afffirmed our commitment to marriage equality and voted unanimously to oppose the Knight initiative that bans same sex marriages in California.
In February 2005, we participated, with 69 of 74 Unitarian Universalist congregations in Standing on the Side of Love Sunday, and added our Valentines to the nearly 4000 delivered to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenager supporting marriage equality.
In 2008, our minister, Rev. Amy Zucker Morgenstern, co-wrote a new curriculum for adults on bisexuality. Our congregation opposed Proposition 8, and in spite of its passage, continues to work for marriage equality in California.
