From Rev. Eva

The path to final fellowship in the Unitarian Universalist ministry is a demanding journey, often long, sometimes with rough spots and delays. For some, there are detours and missteps; for others, a straighter and swifter course.

The Committee on Ministry, Rev. Amy and I have just finished my Final Review evaluations for the Ministerial Fellowship Committee, requesting I be awarded Final Fellowship. Four years ago, I received preliminary fellowship as a UU minister after completing the academic and clinical training, the practical experience and interview requirements. After more than two decades of working toward this goal, completion is within reach.

I owe a large debt of gratitude to the six other UU congregations I have served as religious educator and minister, and to this church. I have learned much about myself, about the wide spectrum of responsibilities and challenges, as well as joys, of this calling, and an whole lot about my fellow human beings along the way.

I thank you, the Unitarian Universalist Church of Palo Alto, for your trust and encouragement. You have taken me in and trusted me, immediately accepting me as part of the ministerial team, expecting me to succeed and to be worthy of your trust. This confidence in me and my ministry with you has been very satisfying … and this relationship is only six months old!

You are a remarkable congregation. As good as you are in so many areas, you seem constantly to be striving to improve your ministry to each other. As you continue to discern the directions you seek for your religious education and its leadership, I know your efforts and diligence will result in success. We have another 18 months together, and I look forward to this time to continue to build and grow.
