Rev. Alicia McNary Forsey
After a month of adjusting to a new environment I am feeling at home and enjoy my time at the church. There never seems to be enough time to accomplish all I intend to do, but I know things will eventually land where they belong if I just keep my focus on priorities.
I was hired on a half-time basis to focus on three areas: Sunday Services twice a month, Pastoral Care and helping with the transitions at the church. I am expected to attend the Board meetings and the Committee on Ministry meetings. I also attend staff meetings and Darcey and I meet once a week.
My schedule changes week by week, depending on whether or not I need to attend an evening meeting or if I am in charge of the Sunday Service. On weekends when I am responsible for the Sunday Service I drive to Palo Also on Saturday afternoon and stay overnight here — just to be sure I don’t get stuck Sunday morning in traffic on the Bay Bridge or in San Francisco where cars are sometimes at a complete standstill, or five miles an hour feels like real progress. There are days when Berkeley seems very far from Palo Alto, and days when coming and going is a snap.
I will send my schedule to the Announce list every week, and it is always posted on my door. Please don’t hesitate to come by for a visit during my office hours. The best part of my job is getting to know members of the church. See you in church!
