Weaving the Web

February 8, 2008
Rev. Amy Zucker Morgenstern

In the Northeast, where I lived for about three-quarters of my years (so far), midwinter was a spiritual trial. The cold was bracing — in November. The snow was exciting and beautiful — at first. By the beginning of February, we’d had enough of both, and no matter what the groundhog saw, we were in for many more weeks of gray days. Cabin fever was a real hazard, and our whole outlook on life could get as bleak as the sky.

It’s a little easier here, but if you’re like me, these weeks on end of rainy days are a challenge. Around about this time of year, you may be feeling the need for a little sparkle for your spirit.

What at UUCPA feeds you? Do you get a charge from talking about meaningful ideas with thoughtful people? Come to the book group or Forum. Do you get a lift from being with kids? Drop in to Family Chapel and just take in that energy, or join the next family nature outing (kite flying at Shoreline Park on March 8). Do you want to learn something new? Adult Religious Education has short, long, and drop-in offerings starting up every few weeks. And of course, Sunday services have a little bit of everything: connection to other people, intellectual stimulation, silence and beauty, and music to sing or just listen to. Whatever you’re needing, chances are, it’s happening here. If it isn’t, or you’re not sure, ask your ministers. We can help you make the connections you’re looking for, and get that spark going.

— Blessings,
Amy
