Don’t you wonder how everyone around you answered those questions I asked earlier in the Centering (Where are you really going in your life? What gives you meaning and brings you happiness? What motivates your existence? How do you cope?) How do people find the inspiration to get through life? Think of all the possibilities. According to the hymn we just sang, singing a song together can bring hope, love, and roses in winter. This is the first in a series of services conceived by Amy about our Sources. Later in the year we’ll hear what people in our community feel they’ve learned from the words of prophetic women and men and how this has affected their lives. On another occasion, the topic will be what brings us hope and comfort.
Today however, we ask the question: What are our sources of Inspiration and Insight; what motivates and drives us, what makes us want to get up out of bed each morning and face a new day? As a Worship Associate I’ve more than once expressed my amazement at the resilience of humanity. People are capable of surviving disasters, often showing great dignity and courage. What is the source of their strength? What magic sustains them?
I’ve shared with you my sources of inspiration in past reflections. This morning you’re going to hear reflections on the subject from four fresh voices, each with a unique perspective on the subject. And, as in all things in life, I advise you to expect the unexpected.
