Unitarian Universalists for the Ethical Treatment of Animals

You can join the group, even if you can not attend the meeting(s). You can participate in the activities, even if you do not join our group.

Our Goals (these can be changed by the group):

  1. Raise consciousness and awareness of animal abuse issues.
  2. Draw attention to the link between livestock production and global warming. UUCPA is working to be a green sanctuary. Livestock production, because of the amount of methane produced, has now been found to be a greater factor to global warming than transport (exhaust, etc.)
  3. Encourage people to eat less meat for ethical, health, and environmental reasons.
  4. Encourage compassion for and better treatment of all animals.

Some of our possible activities:

  1. Bring speakers to UUCPA.
  2. Hold vegan cooking classes.
  3. Create a group at UUCPA, “Vegan Diners”.
  4. Have a weekly table on the patio to distribute animal rights literature.
  5. Take field trips to animal sanctuaries.
  6. Sponsor a children’s R.E. program called “Cultivating Compassion".

We are included on the the national organization's web page at http://www25.uua.org/ufeta/.
