Auction Donation deadline extended to November 5, 2020

First of all, thanks to those who have uploaded items, emailed and texted me pictures, and planned crafts and baking galore!
As we move into the final week of the donation phase, I’ve been thinking about how I can adapt my own donations to these new times. Here are my thoughts:

Dinner parties:

  • Pack it up! Break the party into groups of 2 or 4 and deliver it in a box to people’s houses. Maybe join online to share the meal.
  • Plan for a picnic next summer when we should be in better shape to share time together
  • Plan online game nights with sites like Trickster

Services:

What can you do at a social distance that can help others? An hour of weeding? Dave Jewett is going all out on the knife sharpening front. What is your special skill? It may seem obvious to you, but to others it’s unknown. I found out that there are people who are intimidated by a crochet hook or set of knitting needles. Throw your special skill out there for people to discover it with you.

Travel:

Yes, people are still travelling. Locally, carefully. Do you have more points for a hotel or airline that you’d be willing to share? Not everyone is travelling, but for the right person the gift of a night out of their 4 walls may be a blessing.

Food

We are all getting pretty tired of our own recipes and ever if we’re honest, DoorDash options. Offer a taste of something special that others would love to try. There are safe ways to share food bundles. We are going to be creating UUCPA Auction food bundles which I hope that you’ll love – including a recipe from a friend of mine. What can you bring?

If you have any other ideas, share them. For speed, I’m sure that even the chat during the service on Sunday will work well.

Donations entries can be made until October 31st (We’re extending it until November 5th so our Election angels can take a breath after the 3rd).  Make your donation via this online form:  https://charityauction.bid/uucpa2020auction

Thanks so much,
Pamela
