Brown Bag Books Discussion Group – September 2020 Selection

The BBB group does not meet in July or August. Our September book is Unsheltered: A Novel by Barbara Kingsolver.

“The First major novel to tackle the Trump era straight on and place it in the larger chronicle of existential threats…140 years apart, these alternating stories about Willa and Thatcher maintain their distinctive tones but echo one another in curious, provocative ways. Kingsolver suggests it’s never been easy to find oneself unsheltered, cast out from the comforts of old beliefs about how the world works…We’ve adapted before. With a little creative thinking and courage, we might do so again.” (WA Post”)

Please join us on September 1, 2020 at noon to discuss this very timely book by an outstanding author. If we are able to meet in person, we’ll be in the Fireside room at UUCPA. If we are still using Zoom to meet, Susan Owicki will issue an invitation via email a day or so before the meeting. Be sure to join our email list if you haven’t already by sending an email to brown-bag-books+subscribe@uucpa.org.

In the meantime, have a good summer, be safe, and enjoy reading our other selections throughout the year.
