 for October Fourth Friday to talk about how communities are being activate
 d through energy ownership.\n\nWe'll start with a few engaging short video
 s to kick-start a discussion around energy.\n\nAs we’re reminded every t
 ime there's a blackout\, energy helps us get things done and is crucial fo
 r our survival. If energy is that important\, should it be a commodity tha
 t companies sell to us? How can we control our own energy sources to survi
 ve and thrive?\n\nCommunities\, neighborhoods\, groups - large and small -
  need to control energy and decide that energy is for everyone. When we ac
 tively participate and collectively decide\, that's energy democracy.\n\nL
 earn how cooperative energy ownership can\n\n 	Enable half of California t
 o build wealth from solar ownership.\n 	Encourage people to involve their 
 neighbors\, building more resilient communities.\n 	Open the door for peop
 le to take collective climate action.\n\nUnlike most energy workshops that
  focus on the technology\, the evening will focus on the organizing\, fina
 ncial\, and legal aspects of energy ownership.\n\nFilms are shown on the f
 ourth Friday of the month on a variety of topics and themes in the Firesi
 de Room starting at 7:30 pm. Check out the TransitionPaloAlto website: ht

 of the monthly film\, or call the church office.\n\nA typical agenda is t
 o gather at 7:15 pm for social time\; the film starts at 7:30 pm with a d
 iscussion following. Suggested donation is $5 – $10 to cover film costs
  and venue.
