SUMMARY:Healing the Divide
DESCRIPTION:Healing the Divide  Healing the Divide – September 6\, 1:00pm
 \nHealing the Divide is a UUCPA group that formed after the 2016 election 
 to ask: 1) what do we not understand about others with more conservative v
 iewpoints\, and 2) what can we learn that will help us communicate even ac
 ross wide differences in belief.\nMany of you know about Braver Angels\, a
  national citizens’ organization uniting red and blue Americans in a wor
 king alliance to depolarize America.  Their concern about polarization is
  similar to ours in Healing the Divide.\nBraver Angels has a free online w
 orkshop called Inner Depolarization https://braverangels.org/online/onlin
 e-depolarizing-within-workshop/.  It’s aims are to help participants\n\
 n\n 	Become more aware of their own inner polarizer and find ways to count
 eract it\n 	Learn how to be critical without stereotyping\, dismissing\, r
 idiculing\, or showing contempt\n 	Build skills for intervening in a const
 ructive way in social conversations that veer into contempt and ridicule f
 or people who hold other political views\n\nIn our Healing the Divide prog
 ram September 6 we will learn more about Braver Angels and then introduce 
 an exercise and skills aimed at the first goal above.    \n\nWe will al
 so make plans for our program on October 4\, when we will host a "Living R
 oom Conversation" with 4 participants from Braver Angels who identify as R
 ed and 4 from Healing the Divide who identify as Blue or Purple.  The con
