DESCRIPTION:Healing the Divide  The Upswing: How America Came Together a Ce
 ntury Ago and How We Can Do It Again\, by Robert Putnam and Shaylyn Romne
 y Garrett\n\nAt the end of the 19th century\, in what came to be known as 
 the Gilded Age\, the United States experienced extreme economic inequality
  and intense partisanship.  In many ways it resembled our current situat
 ion.  In the Upswing\, the authors describe how the Gilded Age was follo
 wed by a reform movement that led to sweeping improvements and then peaked
  in the 1960's.  We'll watch a video interview with the authors and then 
 discuss their thoughts on how such transformation might occur again.\n\nZo
