SUMMARY:Hike San Bruno Mountain
DESCRIPTION:Hike San Bruno Mountain  Our July 8 hike will be up and down 
 the north side of Mt. San Bruno. There is a short loop along a small creek
  for families with children and\, afterwards\, a longer loop up to the rid
 ge.The Bog Trail starts near a picnic area and loops around a small creek 
 bordered by ferns and tall shrubs such as Cotoneaster\, coffeeberry\, and 
 blackberry. It’s well-shaded by willows and cypress trees. If you like\,
  you can walk this ¾-mile loop and then stay to picnic and play in the ne
 arby grassy meadow.For those who prefer a slightly longer\, more strenuous
  hike\, we’ll cross the road and start up the Summit Loop Trail which c
 limbs two miles and 780 feet to the aptly-named Radio Road that services a
  bunch of communications antennas. We’ll enjoy views of San Francisco Ba
 y and the city skyline and then hike two miles down the Eucalyptus trail
  among low shrubs\, wildflowers\, and rocky outcroppings into a small euca
 lyptus grove at the bottom.We’ll leave from UUFRC (2124 Brewster at Lowe
 ll) in Redwood City at 9am\, Saturday\, July 8. Arrive early to arrange 
 carpools. We’ll meet in the lower parking lot behind the toll booth ($6 
 entry fee) on Guadalupe Canyon Parkway near the restrooms and picnic area.
  The drive to San Bruno Mountain State and County Park will take about hal
 f an hour.\n\nWe’ll probably return to Redwood City in time for lunch bu
 t you may want to bring a snack. Binoculars might come in handy\, too.kaye
