 The following announcement is mostly written by Kim Cooper.

“There are two kinds of people…”  — Dichotomies;

Are they useful or do they separate us further? Are they really dichotomies, or just two ends of a spectrum?

We all have heard of different kinds of people: conservatives vs liberals, how men approach relationships vs how women approach relationships…etc.  These dichotomy ideas usually come from well-known books.

Kim will present some ideas of various dichotomies, from several sources, and talk briefly about how they can be used to understand our world. Each of the sources that divides us into two groups uses different phraseology, and defines the borders somewhat differently, but they all seem to approach the same thing from different angles.  Some say it’s cultural, some say it’s innate.  But, since so many people see us as two, there must be something to it.  Let’s explore what that is.

Some of the Sources used will be:

  • Sex and War, by Malcolm Potts and Thomas Hayden
  •  “The Two Moral Modes”, by Siderea  https://siderea.dreamwidth.org/2016/03/31/
  • Men are from, Mars Women are from Venus, 1992, by John Gray
