 iteria do we use when casting our vote for the candidate of our choice? Ar

 kground\nJoe Simitian is President of the Santa Clara County Board of Supe
 rvisors and represents the Fifth District. His district includes Palo Alto
 \, Mountain View\, Cupertino\, Stanford\, Los Altos\, Los Altos Hills\, an
 d Saratoga\, along with portions of Sunnyvale and San Jose. He was elected
  to the Board of Supervisors in 2012 and was re-elected in June 2016. He c
 urrently serves as President of the board\, Chair of the Health and Hospit
 als Committee and Vice-Chair of the Housing\, Land Use\, Environment\, and
  Transportation Committee.\nJoe's public service over the years includes s
 tints as a member of the California State Senate\, the California State As
 sembly\, Mayor of Palo Alto\, President of the Palo Alto School Board\, an
 d an earlier term on the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors.\nJoe bri
 ngs to his work a wide-ranging perspective and background -- service at al
 l levels of state and local government\; hands-on experience in the privat
 e sector\, as well as professional education and training particularly app
 licable to his work in public service.
