  have moved\, or are thinking of moving\, to be closer to relatives or goo
 d friends. Many of us have welcomed family and friends moving to be closer
  to us. Even without hostile borders\, these moves can be complicated. How
  do you afford housing? How do you live well with your parents/children/si
 blings when you are all adults? What about loss of your community and crea
 tion of a new one? At our second meeting of 2018\, former Palo Alto reside
 nt Nik Ingle shares sometimes hard-won insights about moving into a three-
 generation household with an impressively small carbon footprint. Nik is a
  materials scientist\, his wife is an environmental educator and film make
 r\, and his mother-in-law is a city planner – and they use all their ski
 lls to navigate life in the Democratic Republic of Berkeley and with each 
 other. (And then there is the cat and the middle schooler…) If you want
