SUMMARY:Resonant Reading (Saturday) - Self as a process-Olendzki
DESCRIPTION:Resonant Reading (Saturday) - Self as a process-Olendzki An ex
ploration of ideas\, feelings\, and our life experiences\, using a differe
nt short reading as our springboard each time. The sessions are on Saturda
ys\, 4-5. All are wide open and you are welcome to come weekly or once in
 a while.\nThe reading for this session: Saturday\, August 1\, 2026\n\n\n\n
Of all the nouns we use to disguise the hollowness of the human condition\
, none is more influential than “myself.” It consists of a collage of
 still images—name\, gender\, nationality\, profession\, enthusiasms\, re
lationships—which are renovated from time to time\, but otherwise are ea
ch a relic from one particular experience or another. The defining teachin
g of the Buddhist tradition\, that of non-self\, is merely pointing out th
e limitations of this reflexive view we hold of ourselves. It’s not that
the self does not exist\, but that it is as cobbled together and transien
t as everything else. … Self is a process. Self is a verb.\n--Andrew Ole
ndzki (2010)\, Unlimiting Mind\, p. 131.\n\n\nThe participants over the ye
ars have found that the approach we take\, and the respectful\, affectiona
te community of inquirers in which we read and converse\, are as important
as the reading itself. While many small groups begin with a check-in\, wi
th a session only an hour long\, Resonant Reading jumps right in to the co
nversation. Those who are frequently in the group get to know each other v
ery well this way\, and those who are new will soon find they are among fr
iends.\n\n\n\nFacilitators use a light hand\, posting the reading in the c
hat and calling on whoever's Zoom hand is up. Suggestions for readings* co
me from group members\, who also take turns facilitating\, if they want to
try that role.\n\n\n&nbsp\;\n\n\nHow to join:\n\n Join this class from y

n\n&nbsp\;\n\n*This activity was formerly called "Sacred Text Reading." Th
at proved misleading--for one thing\, more often than not our sources are
secular--but it's worth describing the qualities of a sacred text\, which
we still look for in the readings we choose. It is any reading that helps
us to:\n\n connect to something of supreme importance to us\n feel more
connected to other beings or to the universe\n feel more intensely alive\
n align our lives with our values\,\n perceive or feel more deeply\n be
  more fully and authentically ourselves.\n
