DESCRIPTION:Sacred Text Reading Group  \n\n\nA weekly online sacred text re
 ading group with Amy\n\nUsing a spiritual-practice approach\, in each sess
 ion we will explore a different brief scriptural text in depth. The aims o
 f the sessions are educational (learning something about the texts and tra
 ditions)\, spiritual/moral (discovering what the texts ask of us)\, and co
 mmunity-building (getting to know each other better). Amy will have a vers
 ion of the text available to share\; “bring” your own if you like. All
  are welcome\, as are your suggestions of future texts. About half our rea
 dings so far have been those suggested by group members.\n\n\nOn Saturday\
 , February 20\, we'll read these excerpts from The Marriage of Heaven and 
 Hell\, by William Blake:\n\n\nAll Bibles or sacred codes. have been the ca
 uses of the following Errors.\n\n 	\nThat Man has two real existing princi
 ples. Viz: a Body &amp\; a Soul.\n\n 	\nThat Energy. called Evil. is alone
  from the Body. &amp\; that Reason. called Good. is alone from the Soul.\n
 \n 	\nThat God will torment Man in Eternity for following his Energies.\n\
 n\nBut the following Contraries to these are True\n\n 	\nMan has no Body d
 istinct from his Soul for that called Body is a portion of Soul discernd b
 y the five Senses\, the chief inlets of Soul in this age.\n\n\n2\, Energy 
 is the only life and is from the Body and Reason is the bound or outward c
 ircumference of Energy.\n\n 	\nEnergy is Eternal Delight\n\n\n\nThe road o
 f excess leads to the palace of wisdom.\n…\nNo bird soars too high. if h
 e soars with his own wings.\n…\nThe pride of the peacock is the glory of
  God.\nThe lust of the goat is the bounty of God.\nThe wrath of the lion i
 s the wisdom of God.\nThe nakedness of woman is the work of God.\n…\nIf 
 the doors of perception were cleansed every thing would appear to man as i
 t is\, infinite.\n\n\n\n\nBlake deliberately challenged the orthodox view 
 of virtue and vice and celebrated desire and the pleasures of the senses.
