DESCRIPTION:Sacred Text Reading Group  \n\n\nA weekly online sacred text re
 ading group with Amy\n\nUsing a spiritual-practice approach\, in each sess
 ion we will explore a different brief scriptural text in depth. The aims o
 f the sessions are educational (learning something about the texts and tra
 ditions)\, spiritual/moral (discovering what the texts ask of us)\, and co
 mmunity-building (getting to know each other better). Amy will have a vers
 ion of the text available to share\; “bring” your own if you like. All
  are welcome\, as are your suggestions of future texts. About half our rea
 dings so far have been those suggested by group members.\n\n\n\n\nOur text
  for Saturday\, September 4\, 2021\, comes from The Gulag Archipelago by A
 lexander Solzhenitsyn.\n\n\n\nLittle by little I came to understand that t
 he border that separates good from evil does not pass between states\, nor
  between social classes\, nor between parties\, but rather crosses every h
 uman heart and all human hearts. … Even in a heart invaded by evil there
  is always a small bastion of good\; included in the most generous hearts\
 , always a hidden bad corner to root out.\nAnd then I understood the truth
  of all the religions of the world: they fight against evil within each pe
 rson. It is impossible to completely eradicate evil from the world\, but i
 t can be reduced within each individual.\nAnd then I understood the lie of
  all the revolutions in history: they limit themselves to suppressing the 
 agents of evil … (and in haste\, without distinguishing\, also agents o
 f good)\, but the evil itself\, … they collect as an inheritance.\n\nIf 
 you're new (either to UUCPA or to the group) and would like to get acquain
