DESCRIPTION:Sacred Text Reading Group (Connected Discourses 1.71)  \n\n\nA 
 twice-weekly online sacred text reading group. We meet on Saturdays\, 4-5\
 , and on Wednesdays\, 12-1. All are wide open and you are welcome!\n\nUsin
 g a spiritual-practice approach\, in each session we will explore a differ
 ent brief scriptural text in depth. The aims of the sessions are education
 al (learning something about the texts and traditions)\, spiritual/moral (
 discovering what the texts ask of us)\, and community-building (getting to
  know each other better). Our practice usually follows this version of Lec
 tio Divina.\n\nThe facilitator will have a version of the text available t
 o share\; “bring” your own if you like. All are welcome\, as are your 
 suggestions of future texts. Group members also take turns facilitating\, 
 if they want to try that role.\n\n\n\nOn Saturday\, October 23\, 2021\, ou
 r text will be this passage from the Pali Canon of Buddhism:\nHaving kille
 d anger\nyou sleep in ease.\nHaving killed anger\nyou do not grieve.\nThe 
 noble ones praise\nthe slaying of anger\n— with its honeyed crest\n&amp\
 ; poison root —\nfor having killed it\nyou do not grieve.\n\n--Connected
