SUMMARY:Sacred Text Reading Group (Saturday)
DESCRIPTION:Sacred Text Reading Group (Saturday)  \n\n\nA twice-weekly onli
 ne sacred text reading group. We meet on Saturdays\, 4-5\, and on Wednesda
 ys\, 12-1. All are wide open and you are welcome!\n\nUsing a spiritual-pra
 ctice approach\, in each session we will explore a different brief scriptu
 ral text in depth. The aims of the sessions are educational (learning some
 thing about the texts and traditions)\, spiritual/moral (discovering what 
 the texts ask of us)\, and community-building (getting to know each other 
 better). Our practice usually follows this version of Lectio Divina.\n\nTh
 e facilitator will have a version of the text available to share\; “brin
 g” your own if you like. All are welcome\, as are your suggestions of fu
 ture texts. Group members also take turns facilitating\, if they want to t
 ry that role.\n\n\nOur text for Saturday\, March 19\, 2022 is "Good News\,
 " by the Vietnamese Buddhist monk\, writer\, teacher\, and peace activist 
 Thích Nhất Hạnh\, who died in late January.\n\n\n\nThey don’t publi
 sh\nthe good news.\nThe good news is published\nby us.\nWe have a special 
 edition every moment\,\nand we need you to read it.\nThe good news is that
  you are alive\,\nand the linden tree is still there\,\nstanding firm in t
 he harsh winter.\nThe good news is that you have wonderful eyes\nto touch 
 the blue sky.\nThe good news is that your child is there before you\,\nand
  your arms are available:\nhugging is possible.\nThey only print what is w
 rong.\nLook at each of our special editions.\nWe always offer the things t
 hat are not wrong.\nWe want you to benefit from them\nand help protect the
 m.\nThe dandelion is there by the sidewalk\,\nsmiling its wondrous smile\,
 \nsinging the song of eternity.\nListen! You have ears that can hear it.\n
 Bow your head.\nListen to it.\nLeave behind the world of sorrow\nand preoc
 cupation\nand get free.\nThe latest good news\nis that you can do it.\n\n\
