DESCRIPTION:Sacred Text Reading Group (via Video Conference)  \n\nA weekly 
 online sacred text reading group with Reverend Amy\n\nUsing a spiritual-pr
 actice approach\, in each session we will explore a different brief script
 ural text in depth. The aims of the sessions are educational (learning som
 ething about the texts and traditions)\, spiritual/moral (discovering what
  the texts ask of us)\, and community-building (getting to know each other
  better). There will be a version of the text available to share\; "bring"
  your own if you like. All are welcome\, as are your suggestions of future
  texts.\n\n\nOn Saturday\, July 25\, we will read this passage from Ralph 
 Waldo Emerson's essay "Nature":\nCrossing a bare common\, in snow puddles\
 , at twilight\, under a clouded sky\, without having in my thoughts any oc
 currence of special good fortune\, I have enjoyed a perfect exhilaration. 
 I am glad to the brink of fear. In the woods too\, a man casts off his yea
 rs\, as the snake his slough\, and at what period soever of life\, is alwa
 ys a child. In the woods\, is perpetual youth. Within these plantations of
  God\, a decorum and sanctity reign\, a perennial festival is dressed\, an
 d the guest sees not how he should tire of them in a thousand years. In th
 e woods\, we return to reason and faith. There I feel that nothing can bef
 all me in life\, -- no disgrace\, no calamity\, (leaving me my eyes\,) whi
 ch nature cannot repair. Standing on the bare ground\, -- my head bathed b
 y the blithe air\, and uplifted into infinite space\, -- all mean egotism 
 vanishes. I become a transparent eye-ball\; I am nothing\; I see all\; the
  currents of the Universal Being circulate through me\; I am part or parti
