 uddhism have to say to Unitarian Universalists?\nIn this class Drew will d
 efine what he means by the term "Secular Buddhism" and then use that lens 
 to explore some of the central tenets of traditional (Theravada/Vipassana)
  Buddhism. Among them will be the Three Characteristics: impermanence\, su
 ffering\, no-self\; the Three Poisons: greed\, hatred\, delusion\; the Fou
 r Noble Truths\, and the Eightfold Path.  He will then reflect on how thi
 s might speak to members of the audience.\nPresenter Bio:\nI was raised lo
 w-church Episcopalian\, took my first course on Buddhism as an undergradua
 te in the early 70s\, and initiated into TM (Transcendental Meditation) at
  about the same time. After graduation I started attending Quaker Meeting\
 , which I did with less and less frequency over the years as I explored va
 rious other "spiritualities" in the 80s. I turned to Buddhist meditation p
 ractice when I met my future spouse\, Ed Haertel\, in 1991\, and we've bee
