DESCRIPTION:Sunday School for children and youth age 3 through grade 8 - Ca
 nceled  UUCPA Children and Youth classes canceled through April 5.\n\n\n\n
 Because we believe in learning by doing\, a most important part of our rel
 igious education is participation\, with all ages\, in the first part of r
 egular worship services. Then during Sunday school\, young people learn an
 d play with people their own age. Feel free to ask Sunday school teachers 
 what they did this week. If you would like to review curriculum materials 
 that are not online\, please call Dan Harper.\n\nEach Sunday\, from mid-Au
 gust through early May\, Sunday School classes are held.  For the first p
 art of the year\, all children participate in the classes mentioned below 
 by age group. After late March and into early May\, children in grades K-
 5 participate in multi-age group projects while children who are infant-pr
 eK and middle schoolers continue with the classes below.\n\n 	Childcare (f
 or infants\, toddlers\, and young children) — Loving and safe care with 
 our professional childcare providers. Children who are over 3 and toilet-t
 rained may go to Red class (if your 3-year-old is not yet toilet-trained\,
  they may be in the class as long as you are on call via cell phone if toi

 d group (3 and 4-year-olds)\, 2019-2020 — The Chalice Children curricu
 lum helps young children learn about their religious community\, and get t
 o know each other.\n 	Yellow group (gr. K-1)\, 2019-2020 — In fall\, the
  Around the Church\, Around the Year curriculum introduces children to t
 heir congregation. In early winter\, children learn more about feminist go
 d-images with Hide and Seek with God. In late winter\, children explore t
 he wider religious world with more stories from Picture Book World Religi
 ons.\n 	Green group (grades 2-3)\, 2019-2020 — This group begins with S
 pirit of Adventure to learn about Unitarian Universalist values through f
 un activities. In early winter\, Timeless Themes presents stories about 
 Jesus and his times. Then in late winter\, Holidays and Holy Days introduc
 es world religions through holidays.\n 	Blue group (grade 4-5)\, 2019-2020
  — In fall\, this group will explore Unitarian Universalist values with 
 the Toolbox of Faith curriculum. In early winter\, Timeless Themes pre
 sents stories from the Hebrew Bible. In late winter\, they explore creatio
 n myths from around the world with the Beginnings curriculum.\n 	For mid
 dle school (gr. 6-8)\, there is a choice of two different classes:\n\n 	Pu
 rple group: Ecojustice (grade 6-8) — This is a project-based program tha
 t includes projects relating to environmental justice and nature study. Pr
 ojects may include urban/suburban gardening\, creating habitat for non-hum
 an organisms\, learning how to cook outdoors\, and studying environmental 
 justice heroes like Rachel Carson and Cesar Chavez. There will be differen
 t projects each year\, and the class may be repeated.\n 	Purple group: Ne
 ighboring Faith Communities (grades 6-8) — This middle school group vis
 its other faith communities\, exploring other UU congregations\, Christian
  diversity\, and non-Western religions. Participants go on 6 field trips e
 ach year\, on a two-year cycle: 2019-2020\, UU\, Quaker\, Presbyterian\, E
 piscopalian\, Pentecostal\, and Sikh faith communities\; 2020-2021\, UU\, 
 UCC\, AME Zion\, Catholic\, Mormon\, and Hindu faith communities.\n\n\n\nR
