We’ll look at four different Unitarian Universalist theologies, and see how they might apply in the twenty-first century. We’ll start with Hosea Ballou’s classic statement of universal salvation, and rethink it in terms of the power of love. Next we’ll look at the notion of self-reliance, which Ralph Waldo Emerson borrowed from Mary Rotch. Third will be Bernard Loomer’s idea of the interdependent web of existence. Finally, we’ll explore William R. Jones’s notion of rebellion as a path to salvation. There will be plenty of time for discussion, so you can figure out if any of these UU theologies might work for you.
