I’d like to tell you about some fun family activities for the holiday season.
First and foremost, we’ve got fun plans for the annual No-Rehearsal Christmas Pageant on Sunday, Dec. 20, at 10:30. Every UUCPA child from preschool to grade 8 will receive a packet in the mail during the week of Dec. 14. That packet will have materials to make a sheep mask and animal-ear headbands, that kids can wear during the No-Rehearsal Christmas Pageant. During the Pageant, we’ll ask families with kids to turn on their video, and then when Amy asks for some sheep (for example), then kids can hold up their sheep masks in front of their faces. So kids will get to participate in the Pageant!
Another family-friendly activity will take place this Sunday, Dec. 6, after the service. Right after the Sunday service, the Kostka family will lead a half-hour holiday sing-along, with Christmas carols, wassailing songs, etc. Most of the songs are familiar, but we’ll provide online lyrics as well.
On Monday, Dec. 21, our annual family-friendly Winter Solstice service will take place online. This short event is always fun for kids. Details are in this edition of the CYRE newsletter.
Finally, don’t miss the annual Christmas Eve candlelight service, on Dec. 24 at 6:30 p.m. Note that there will be only ONE candlelight service this year. There will be lots of songs to sing along with, plenty of Christmas music, some classic Christmas readings, and some words from Amy. At the end, we’ll all light candles in our homes, just as we do during the in-person service. This service can be a great way to help kids get centered on Christmas Eve, before the excitement of Christmas Day.
I look forward to seeing you and your family online.
