Get Fair Trade Chocolate for Halloween!

After both Services on October 21 and 28, we will sell Fair Trade chocolate – Made Without Child Slave Labor.

Most other chocolates from major companies like Hershey, Mars and Nestle do use children. Our source is Equal Exchange, a worker-owned cooperative that has led the Fair Trade movement since 1986. Cacao plantations often use children who have been forcibly taken from home, and are given no schooling, no rest or play, and usually work without any pay. This is one small contribution we make to ending trafficking of human beings, which affects an estimated 30 million people worldwide.

Bags of milk chocolate and dark chocolate minis will be available at the table on the patio:

  • 1/2-lb bag (50 pieces) – $12
  • 1-lb bag (100 pieces) – $20

The price just covers the wholesale cost to buy this chocolate which has been harvested by people who are paid a living wage. UUCPA does not make any profit from this project. Here’s to enjoying chocolate with you!
