Healing the Divide will meet on Saturday May 2, 1:00 to 2:00

Healing the Divide is a UUCPA group which formed after the 2016 elections to ask 1) what do we not understand about others with more conservative view points and 2)  what can we learn that will help us communicate even across wide differences in belief.

This coming Saturday we will have our first Zoom meeting.  The Zoom link will be distributed through the email list heal-the-divide@uucpa.org.  If you aren’t on that list, you can join it by sending an email to heal-the-divide+subscribe@uucpa.org before 9:00 pm on Friday 5/1.

Before shelter-in-place, we planned that our April meeting would discuss Chapter 4 from the book Beyond Contempt: How Liberals Can Communicate Across the Great Divide, by Erica Etelson. The chapter is called “Curiosity — The Antidote to Contempt.”   It’s only 20 pages long, but there’s lots of good stuff there.   The April meeting was canceled and the discussion was postponed til May.

For the meeting this Saturday, If you don’t have the book, or don’t want to read that much, you could take a look at this article by Erica Etelson, “How to Talk to the Covid-19 Deniers in Your Life.”  I’ll try to include some information from the book to amplify what’s in the article.
Hope to “see” you there!
