Join Brown Bag books this Tuesday, May 3

The next meeting of Brown Bag Books is at noon on Tuesday, May 3, via Zoom.  We’ll discuss The Music Shop, a novel by Rachel Joyce. It is both charming and profound, and is well worth reading. Please join us if you can.

Hannah Beckerman of The Guardian writes, “Since her bestselling debut in 2012, The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry, Rachel Joyce has established a reputation for novels that celebrate the dignity and courage of ordinary people and the resilience of the human spirit. Her fourth novel, The Music Shop, is driven by the same impulse. . . . what really elevates The Music Shop is Joyce’s detailed knowledge of – and passion for – music. There are stories here about composers and musicians ranging from Beethoven, Vivaldi and Purcell to Duke Ellington, Aretha Franklin and the Sex Pistols.”
