April 29, 2018 UUCPA Annual Meeting Final Notice

The Annual Meeting of the Congregation will be on Sunday, April 29, 2018, following the second Sunday Service.

In this meeting, the congregation will vote on the following items:

Bagels and fruit will be served, and childcare will be available.

Members must have made a contribution of record during the past 12 calendar months to be eligible to vote.  New members must be affirmed by the Board 30 days before the meeting in order to be eligible to vote at this meeting.

Voting by Proxy or Absentee Ballot

If unable to attend the meeting, a member may designate another member as proxy — note that no one can hold more than one proxy.  Proxy forms are currently available on the website at https://www.uucpa.org/about-us/our-governance/voting-proxy-absentee-ballot-uucpa-congregational-meetings/.

A member may also vote on candidates by completing an absentee ballot.  Absentee ballots will be available on the website and in the office after nominations close on April 17.  

NOTE:  If you submit a proxy, you may not also submit an absentee ballot.

Budget Town Halls

There will be two Budget Town Halls held in Rooms 4-5 on Sunday, April 15, one at 10:30 and another at 12:15.  Please plan to attend one of these meetings to be sure you are up-to-date on our financial situation prior to the Annual Meeting.

Candidates for the Church Board and Other Positions

The Nominating Committee is pleased to present the following slates:

Board of Trustees

There are three three-year positions on the Board of Trustees to be filled. The nominees are:

  • Jim Basiji
  • Jeb Eddy
  • Mark Erickson

There is one two-year position on the Board of Trustees to be filled.  The nominee is:

  • Joe Bailey

There is one one-year position on the Board of Trustees to be filled.  The nominee is:

  • John Kostka

Nominating Committee

There is one Nominating Committee position open for a two-year term. The nominee is:

  • Geoff Ivison

Petition Nominations

In addition to the above listed candidates, members of the church are welcome to nominate themselves for a position on the Board or Nominating Committee. To do so prior to March 24, please contact the Nominating Committee at nominating-committee@uucpa.org .  Between March 26 and April 17, you may volunteer for either of these positions by drafting a petition to have your name included on the ballot, having it signed by at least three other church members, and submitting it to the church office, addressed to the Nominating Committee, no later than April 17.

UUA General Assembly in Kansas City, MO, June 20-24, 2018

UUCPA can send five representatives.  Nominees to date are:

Pacific Western Region (PWR) Assembly in Portland, OR, April 27-29, 2018

UUCPA can send five delegates.  Due to the timing of the Assembly this year, voting for these delegates is taking place by postal mail with votes due back to the church office no later than Sunday, April 15.  Look for your ballot in postal mail.

In addition to the above-listed PCD and GA delegates, members of the church are welcome to nominate themselves as delegates by contacting the Nominating Committee.  Delegates can also self-nominate for General Assembly from the floor during the Annual Meeting.
