ARE Class – Secular Buddhism for UUs, Oct 13

Save the date for a new ARE class, Secular Buddhism for UUs presented by Drew Oman on Wednesday, October 13, 7:00 – 8:15pm.

What might Secular Buddhism have to say to Unitarian Universalists?

In this class Drew will define what he means by the term “Secular Buddhism” and then use that lens to explore some of the central tenets of traditional (Theravada/Vipassana) Buddhism. Among them will be the Three Characteristics: impermanence, suffering, no-self; the Three Poisons: greed, hatred, delusion; the Four Noble Truths, and the Eightfold Path.  He will then reflect on how this might speak to members of the audience.
