Our newest Community Minister: Rev. Melissa Thomson

Rev. Melissa Thomson, a long time member of our congregation and our choir who was ordained last year in this very church is now our newest Community Minister.  She received a BA in Religious Studies from UC Berkeley, and her Masters of Divinity from the Pacific School of Religion.  She served as an intern minister at Mt Diablo UU Church.  She has served as a chaplain at Stanford Hospital and El Camino Hospital, and is now Chaplain for Inpatient Palliative Care at Kaiser Permanente Foundation Hospital in Redwood City.

What is her role at UUCPA?

Melissa will continue to participate in our church and choir and plans to extend that by establishing and maintaining  a pastoral care singing ministry at UUCPA based on the “By Your Side Singers” model of Concord, MA.  She may also preach once a year, as her schedule allows.  She won’t be meeting with individuals as a minister except as agreed upon by our parish minister. Welcome Melissa in this new role!
