Seeking Volunteers for UUCPA Pledge Drive

The Stewardship Committee of UUCPA is preparing for the upcoming 2021-22 Canvass of the Congregation.  We invite you to join us by volunteering to have conversations with UUCPA Members and Friends in support of the pledge drive. If you’d like to participate, please let us know by sending a message to the Stewardship Committee, stewardship@uucpa.org.

Since we cannot meet face-to-face this year we’ll take a different approach.  We plan to have meetings online with small groups – perhaps 6 people – intimate enough to facilitate friendly conversation.  Each group will be led by one or two canvassers, who will arrange a time to meet with their group.  The leaders will provide information about pledging and will create a comfortable environment to talk and share.  Note that in these conversations you will NOT have to ask people for money.

While in past years we recruited members to do one-on-one visits, this year we would like to find those who are willing to lead the small groups. If you are new to this process we will pair you with someone who has experience.  As with the previous one-on-one conversations, we expect this year’s leaders will find small-group conversations to be both fun and enlightening.  We’ll share what’s really important to us in our lives.  These conversations will deepen our relationships with UUCPA friends and give us the opportunity to meet new people.

The group meetings will begin in February.  Would you like to be one of our small-group leaders?  We would love to have you join us.  If you’d like to participate, please let us know by sending a message to the Stewardship Committee, stewardship@uucpa.org.

You will be invited to attend a one-hour online training session led by Reverend Dan Harper.  Dan will talk about canvassing in general and will give advice about how to facilitate a small-group meeting. The training dates (you only need to attend one session) will be Thursday, Jan 14, 2021 from 2 to 3 pm, and Tuesday, Jan 26, 2021 from 7-8 pm.

In addition, the Stewardship Committee will provide you with “cheat sheets” on the mechanics of hosting Zoom meetings. We’ll also give one-on-one training sessions for those who would like them.

Please consider this opportunity.  We would be grateful to have you on our team!
(If you are somewhat interested but still a bit reluctant, we on the Stewardship Committee would like to hear why, so that we can attract others.  Thank you!)

Cordially,

The UUCPA Stewardship Team
