Talk on growing up bicultural

On Sunday, September 22, 12:30-2 p.m., in the Fireside Room, Julie Lythcott-Haims will talk about her book, “Real American” in which she discusses her very personal memoir of growing up a bicultural black woman in America. She will share her personal battle with low self-esteem growing up as a teenager, young adult, professional woman and as a mother of 2 young children. She explores the impact of racism on a person’s inner life as well as outlines her path to self-acceptance and the healing power of community. She has made countless presentations to students, educators, and community leaders across the country on her journey as she calls on all of us to live more compassionately and fully.

We are very fortunate to have her as a speaker.  She is a well-known author, a TED Talk presenter, and a local resident of Palo Alto where she lives with her family. Her message is relevant, pressing, moving, and will be of interest to all ages (teens and older children welcome to attend)!
