Rest in Peace . . .
. . . for the mistake shall not be repeated. So reads the inscription on the memorial Cenotaph in Hiroshima, a message to those who died 75 years ago from the atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and the many more who died of the effects in the years that followed. There are many things we can do to fulfill this promise and make a world where nuclear war will not happen, and they start right here in our community. Special music: Michael Peterson and Laura Rubinstein-Salze, Harpsichord and violin

When I Was Very Young . . .
And now, a question for you. What is something you were taught at a very early age that you still live by and value? If you’re comfortable being “interviewed” by Amy on this question, please e-mail her at email@example.com. Our answers will send our children to school with wisdom and love. Special music: Larry Chinn, jazz piano
We will celebrate Water Communion on August 30.
We hope you can participate in this annual ritual of ingathering. To share, bring a small amount of water (think pill bottle size), securely shut, and attach a label with your names and a word or phrase you would like to guide you over the next year. (If there are multiple members of the family, you can choose one word for all of you, or one each.) Then put on your masks, and come through the “drive-through” (bike-through, walk-through) behind Room D, my office. I’ll be waiting there to collect your bottles, and looking forward to seeing you! Drop off times: Wed, August 12, 12:30-2, Sun, August 23, 12:30-2.
If you can’t bring water, please send your names and words to Amy at firstname.lastname@example.org by that August 23 drop-off date. We’ll share your words as well, as we pour in a little bit of sweet Hetch Hetchy water.
