UUCPA Green Sanctuary cosponsors Palo Alto candidate climate forum on Oct 6

The UUCPA Green Sanctuary Committee voted to sponsor an upcoming Candidate Climate Forum hosted by 350 SV (and cosponsored by Acterra, CIPL and PICA).

Local elections have consequences for the planet: transit, land use, fee, utility and waste policy decisions by the Palo Alto City Council impact whether we meet our climate goals in the next decade.

The climate crisis — and what our elected leaders are doing to address it — is an urgent priority for Palo Alto voters in 2020.

Register now to join 350SV Palo Alto Climate Team, UUCPA, and 15 other co-sponsoring climate organizations at a virtual City Council candidate forum to hear 9 candidates’ perspectives on critical local policies that will determine whether we make progress against climate change in the next decade.

Reverend Kaloma A. Smith, Pastor of University AME Zion Church and Chair of the Palo Alto Human Resources Commission, will moderate the forum.

This event is co-sponsored by Acterra, Canopy, California Interfaith Power and Light, Carbon Free Palo Alto, Citizens Climate Lobby, Cool Block Palo Alto, First Presbyterian Palo Alto Cool Planet Working Group, Friends of Caltrain, Mothers Out Front, Palo Alto Forward, Peninsula for Everyone, Peninsula Interfaith Climate Action, League of Conservation Voters, Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition, Sunrise Movement and University AME Zion Church, and UUCPA.
