When Making Coffee Can Offer Kindness and Relief – (volunteer opportunity)

UUCPA is seeking volunteers to help a few times a year with receptions for memorial services. This is simple yet meaningful work, and we will tell you all the details you need to know. Memorial Reception Host

Join a rotation of four memorial reception hosts, each of whom: coordinates with the mourners, Administrative Assistant Debra Heinz and Parish Minister Amy Morgenstern; with the help of an assistant, prepare and serve punch and/or coffee as desired by mourners; tidy the reception area and kitchen. Time commitment: 4-7 hours per occasion, including coordinating in advance, and then at the memorial usually on a Sunday afternoon; no more than three occasions/ year. Skills needed: sensitivity and tact; teamwork; simple and attractive food presentation. Benefits include: helping people in a time of great need and helping to create a community of mutual trust and care. It is possible but not required to attend the memorial service.

Memorial Reception Assistant

Join a rotation of memorial reception assistants, each of whom assists the Memorial Reception Host in: preparing and serving punch and/or coffee; tidying the reception area and kitchen. Time commitment: 2-4 hours per occasion, usually on a Sunday afternoon; no more than three occasions/year. Skills needed: sensitivity and tact; teamwork; simple and attractive food presentation. Benefits include: helping people in a time of great need and helping to create a community of mutual trust and care.
