Brown Bag Books – “Between the World and Me”
Date(s) - 01/03/2017
12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
The January Brown Bag Book is multiple prize winner “Between the World and Me” by TaNehisi Coates (NF). “Written as a series of letters to his teenaged son, his new memoir…walks us through the course of his life, from the tough neighborhoods of Baltimore in his youth…to Howard University,…New York and Paris…He describes his observations and the evolution of his thinking on race, to his conclusion that race itself is a fabrication….Ferguson, Trayvon Martin, and South Carolina are not bumps on the road of progress and harmony… Coates is direct and, as usual, uncommonly insightful and original. There are no wasted words. This is a powerful and exceptional book.” (Amazon)
Please join us on January at noon in the Fireside Room to discuss this important book.
The Brown Bag Books group meets year-round, except in July and August. Many attendees bring their lunches, and everyone brings a sense of humor. Monthly sessions are always lively and enjoyable.
Books chosen by the group for discussion are usually listed in the Order of Service and the Bulletin, as well as on the UUCPA website.
