This coming Saturday, October 5, we’ll join Bob and Sandy Simoni for a 6.5-mile hike along a creek and through a shady canyon in Hayward. We’ll climb 1,200 feet up through the canyon to a viewpoint overlooking the Bay. We’ll stop for lunch at East Avenue Park, which has picnic tables and flush toilets, before hiking back down to our cars.

We can arrange a car shuttle for folks that don’t want to hike the two miles down from the lunch stop. We’ll need to leave a car at East Avenue Park and then take the driver down to the Hayward Plunge where we start the hike.

Meet at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Redwood City (2124 Brewster Ave. and Lowell) a little bit before 9 am to form carpools. If you want to meet us at the trailhead, we’ll gather at the start of the Hayward Plunge Trail between the Hayward Plunge (24176 Mission Blvd. in Hayward) and the tennis courts between 9:30 and 9:45 am. There is plenty of parking around the tennis courts.

Bring lunch and water.

Hope to see you on the trail,
Kaye
