Join us for a special UUCPA service called Connections Sunday this Sunday, July 26. The event begins with a brief worship service, followed by opportunities for attendees to join in-person or online groups for various activities lasting about 30–40 minutes.
- In-person attendees will have a choice of six different activities, followed by Fourth Sunday Brunch.
- Online participants will have a choice of two breakout groups, or can stay in the main Zoom Room for open discussion.
Here are brief descriptions of each group:
In Person Groups
Postcarding, Petitions, Legislative Advocacy Activities – Fireside Room
Action Council & Green Sanctuary Committee: Write postcards and sign petitions to California legislators regarding key bills to be voted on during the month of August, the final month of the current two-year legislative session. Postcards and guidance provided.
CA Clean Money: Proposition 4, the California Fair Elections Act on November’s ballot, will lift the ban on public financing of election campaigns in California. Come visit our table to endorse the proposition (even if you already signed to endorse the bill that put it on the ballot). And please sign up to help Nancy with some tasks related to events we hold at UUCPA or elsewhere.
Assemble Craft Kits for Local Shelters – Rooms 4-5
Families and single adults in LifeMoves transitional housing appreciate our kits: a zippered bag full of craft materials and activities that they can use to decorate their spaces and enliven unscheduled time. Help us count out supplies and load up 135 craft kits! This activity is suitable for people with solid counting skills, attention to detail, and good attention spans–so perhaps ages 9 years and up, or younger if accompanied by an adult. 🙂
FYI–the kit supplies are purchased through the budgets of two UUCPA committees, Children’s and Youth Religious Education (CYRE) and the Social Justice Action Council. Their budgets are sponsored by your pledges and donations to UUCPA, so thank you for making this activity possible!
All-Ages Charades – Picnic tables by tree behind Fireside Room
We will use kid-oriented charade cards – How would you act out a whale or climbing a ladder? Normally only kids get to enjoy this activity, but today grownups are welcome too! Suggested for 5 and up, but younger children may enjoy this – we do give hints and coaching.
Harmonic Circle Singing – McFadden Patio
Please join us for Harmonic Circle Light. We’ll sing a selection of well known standards from the world of pop, rock, folk, and folk-rock that many of you should know. Did you ever hear of the Beatles? Bob Dylan? Pat Humphries? Join us!
Meditation – Room 6
The meeting will primarily be a meditation session. All levels of experience are welcome, and there will be brief instructions for beginners. We’ll also introduce the UUCPA meditation group. Ages teen through adult.

For those who have not participated in a Chalice Circle, this session will provide an introduction to them: what they’re for, how they work, what it feels like to participate in one. Each Chalice Circle meeting has a topic. The topic of this one is “What Do You Love?” We will meet in a small group to share about what makes our hearts sing.
