Expected Traffic Delays on Charleston
We were notified by the City of Palo Alto on June 5th of expected traffic delays on Charleston due to construction, grinding, and street resurfacing scheduled to begin on Wednesday, June 12th, and run through Saturday, June 22nd.
How will this affect you? You should expect delays getting into and out of UUCPA. Please plan ahead to give yourself more time to get to church Monday – Saturday, be patient, and drive safely. It is expected that one of the driveways could be closed temporarily while this work is being done. This could result in our entrance driveway or our exit driveway being used for both incoming and outgoing traffic at the same time. Since grinding and paving is a moving operation, the city can’t predict when the driveways will be blocked, but their contractor will have traffic control and workers to direct traffic.
The city plans on doing their work in two phases. Phase 1: work will be done from Alma Street to Hoover school starting on June 12th. Phase 2: work from Hoover School to Middlefield Road starting on June 19th. The Second Phase will more directly impact us getting into campus. You can expect delays and detours to get around the First Phase to get to our campus.
Traffic delays and lane closures are expected 9 am to 4 pm Monday-Friday, and 8 am to 6 pm on Saturdays. No delays or lane closures are expected to take place on Sundays.
We will keep you posted on any updates we get from the city. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Jeff Cashdollar in the office 650-494-0541.
