This Teach-In will be about the CARE FIRST Campaign, which is working for community driven alternatives to policing and incarceration. It will give us a good background on historical and current connections between the work of racial justice and the desperate need to re-imagine our understanding and methods of public safety for all! Right now the focus of CARE FIRST is on establishing a direct line to TRUST, an alternative to 911 to provide accessible, transparent, non-police crisis response in Santa Clara County. The TRUST program is a new 24/7 non-police crisis response program for urgent mental health and substance use situations.

This Teach-In is hosted by Multifaith Voices for Peace & Justice (MVPJ) and Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ). The many co-sponsors include the UUCPA Action Council.
