May’s hike will take us over the open hills of Russian Ridge above Skyline Blvd. We hope to see plenty of spring wildflowers and views of both ocean and bay from the ridge top.
The hike starts in the Russian Ridge Open Space Preserve parking lot. We’ll hike north along the open ridge to a viewpoint atop Borel Hill and out to a comfortable deck where we’ll eat lunch. Then we’ll head back on the lower west slope through shady oak woodlands.
Total distance is five miles but there are a couple of connecting trails where those who wish to take a shorter loop may turn back early.
Meet at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Redwood City (2124 Brewster Ave. and Lowell) a little bit before 9 am to form carpools. If you want to meet us at the trailhead, we’ll gather in the parking lot at the intersection of Skyline Blvd. and Alpine Rd. at 9:45 am.
Bring lunch and water.
