Join us for a full day of singing in one of the oldest forms of American choral music. Radio station KALW says it’s a communal experience, adding “the experience of singing in four-part harmony with a bunch of people is hard to resist.” Melissa Block of NPR calls it “full-body, shout it out singing.” Rolling Stone magazine rhapsodizes about the “the soaring magnificence of Sacred Harp, a robust, harmonically intricate blend of country joy and unearthly drone.” Come join Sacred Harp singers from all over northern California to sing this powerful music.

We welcome singers of all levels – our regular Palo Alto Sacred Harp singers range from people who don’t read music and have never sung before, all the way up to professional musicians. If you don’t know much about singing, we’ll help you learn, or you can just come and listen. We’ll loan you the song book. Come for an hour, or stay for the whole day.

In the middle of the day, we’ll break for “dinner on the grounds,” one of the most beloved traditions of Sacred Harp singing – a fabulous potluck lunch shared by our singers.
