Dear Congregation, Yamileth is joining us this Sunday afternoon for the Autumn Equinox Celebration and Potluck, and looks forward to meeting us ~ a special plus to those who can speak a little Spanish:)
Our team is looking for more people to join the Immigration Action Team, to help with odds and ends as they arise, as well as ongoing core needs – such as:
- occasional rides to appointments (legal, medical),
- help finding housecleaning jobs until she can get a work permit in 6 months,
- then help looking for other jobs
- conversation/companionship, and funding of her monthly needs (rent, phone, food, and daily living expenses).
Your imagination is most welcome ~ thinking of things that would make her feel comfortable here.
Please let Karen, Bruce Olstad or Elsa know if you can pitch in from time to time, joining our team – to whom the word would go out when the need was identified. Meanwhile, Kay Brown has set up a fund to which donations can be given (a check to the Office or mailed to UUCPA is easiest), from which Kay can send rent checks to the landlady, etc. Checks should be made out to UUCPA, with this notation in the lower left line: 2410 Immigrant Assistance. Many thanks for your thoughtfulness for our Friendseeking asylum. She has begun the process, nowhaving the first Court-certified documentation, thanksto your turning on a dime to accompany her to LAwhich got her on a good path to continue on track. That first step – for which she is deeply grateful.
She and we love this loving Village, Yamileth, Karen, Bruce and Elsa
