Redefining Prosperity: The Gold Rushes of Nevada City

Born in the California Gold Rush, Nevada City was once the scene of some of the most destructive environmental practices on earth. By the 1960s, the town was a backwater, its extractive industries dying. Then it was discovered by the “back to the land movement.” It was a second gold rush but with a different idea of gold based on nature, community and a sense of place.  Learn more…

 

Films are shown on the fourth Friday of the month on a variety of topics and themes in the Fireside Room starting at 7:30 pm. Check out the TransitionPaloAlto website: https://transitionpaloalto.org/projects/friday-night-movies/ for the title of the monthly film, or call the church office.

A typical agenda is to gather at 7:15 pm for social time; the film starts at 7:30 pm with a discussion following. Suggested donation is $5 – $10 to cover film costs and venue.
