Healing the Divide is a UUCPA group that formed after the 2016 election to ask: 1) what do we not understand about others with more conservative viewpoints, and 2) what can we learn that will help us communicate even across wide differences in belief.

Today’s topic will be “How divided is our country, really?”   Dick Duda will lead the discussion based on articles by David Brooks and others.  DIck says,

“David Brooks  “Why the Trump Ploy Stopped Working” and “Ordinary People Are Leading the Leaders.” states that the bulk of the country — excluding the most vocal people on the left and the right — are not that far apart, and there are ample opportunities for workable compromises . The antithesis is that there really is an almost unbridgeable gap whose most recent manifestation is the opposing views on how quickly we should return to normal economic activity.  This latter view is illustrated by articles by Bret Stephens “In This Election, It’s the Remote Against the Exposed and Paresky and Campbell  “Safetyism Isn’t the Problem“.

The meeting ID is 856 2487 9820.  The password and a clickable link will be sent to the Announce and CYREparents email lists the day before the meeting.
