Spiders, Insects, and the Interdependent Web: A Talk with Photos
Date(s) - 03/05/2017
12:30 pm - 2:00 pm
This ARE session is about how spiders, insects, and their kin fit into the interdependent web of all existence. We seldom appreciate how vital they are for the normal functioning of the earth’s ecology. Because they look very different from mammals and birds, and because, in addition, they’re often too small to see clearly, we tend to think of them as alien and unattractive.
Jack will present a broad perspective on the huge ecological importance of these organisms. Through photography, he will attempt to make the unseen seen, the alien familiar, and the unattractive fascinating.
