Rev. Melissa Thomson, community minister and hospital chaplain affiliated with UUCPA, welcomes you to join her in attending an important upcoming workshop on social and economic class distinctions and their impact on the work of building beloved community. Our UUCPA board has endorsed participation in the UU Class Conversations Workshop and given a donation to help offset some of the cost of this event.

Refreshments and registration open at 9:30 a.m.

Workshop includes lunch (vegan and gluten-free options provided)

Childcare: available if requested in advance

Tickets: Sliding scale $20-50
(No one turned away for lack of funds)

Registration: online at: http://www.pcduuma.com/upcoming-events.html (Go to webpage and scroll down to the February 10 UU Class Conversations calendar listing for the registration link.)

Event had previously been set for October 2017 when fires in the Bay Area led event planners to postpone to this new date, Feb 10, 2018.

Testimony from a past Class Conversations participant: “This was such a good workshop! Talking about our class background (or even acknowledging the existence of class distinctions) comes loaded with a lot of shame. The sense that we shouldn’t talk about money and class seems to affect us regardless of where we fall on the class spectrum. The facilitators understood this and were not only gentle and accepting, themselves, but helped everyone to have non-judgmental conversations about this tender aspect of life.” – Rev. Amy Zucker Morgenstern

Register at the link provided below and then please be in touch if you’d like to form a carpool with other UUCPA attendees by contacting Melissa Thomson at melcthom@gmail.com.
