White Folks Dismantling White Supremacy
Date/Time
Date(s) - 04/12/2022
7:15 pm - 8:45 pm

We meet on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month.

If you would like to attend this session and are not subscribed to the email list, please email dismantlingwhitesupremacy+subscribe@uucpa.org.  Zoom information for the session will be sent to this list early next week.  We welcome new attendees at any time!

All people of whatever race or background are welcome to attend any or all sessions. We call the group “White Folks . . . ” because we recognize that the work of dismantling white supremacy is for white people to do. It’s also important to have anti-racism learning spaces for white folks, where they can grapple with new ideas about racism and speak candidly about their fears and misconceptions. It can be painful for people of color to witness these conversations, so we have created this space apart from the main body of the congregation.

On Tuesday, April 12, 2022, the 2nd Tuesday Dismantling White Supremacy sessions will begin working through the White Ally Toolkit. Amy learned about this program from its author, Dr. David Wiley Campt, when he brought it to the UUA General Assembly a few years ago. As people of color, what he and his colleagues most need from anti-racist white folks is for us to get better at talking with other white people when the topic of race comes up. Hard, right? That’s why he created the Toolkit, and at the request of UUs, made a UU-specific version that particularly connects the work to our principles. Non-white or non-UU people are welcome as well. Amy will facilitate.
